Bristol dialect

(Use your mouse or hand to smooth me)
I'm from the UK and in my 20s I moved to a city called Bristol in the south-west of England.
The south west of england is known as the West Country. It has it's own accent and dialect, with various sub-accents. If you're not familiar with the West Country accent, you could imagine the typical on-screen pirate accent, because it's similar; this may be because Edward Teach (Blackbeard) was a native of Bristol, and West Country native Robert Newton's performance in the 1950 Disney film Treasure Island is credited with popularising the stereotypical West Country "pirate voice" [1].
Here is a list of West Country vocabulary, including Smooth (said as "smoove"). In the west country (and parts of wales) it means "to stroke", as in "Can I smooth that dog?".
