I enjoyed until I didn't - too cruel (as he said himself). If it's meant to be a satire of a certain type of novel, then you could see the treatment of Maria as less mean - I fine it interesting how a different writing style (or a less irreverent narrator) could have made her life seem less... bleak. But there's an honesty there.

Enjoyed this a lot - it's really well written and the way the author constructs the story, pulling in the fairytale references, is very pleasing. David is a satisfying protagonist, and it's thrilling to watch him take on challenges.

Really fun murder mystery - enjoyed the solution, where the possibilities had just started revealing themselves to me at the end of the book, and it was enjoyably creepy. Will definitely keep an eye out for others in the series.

Really enjoyed this! The style was uneven and I’ve read it called Austen juvenalia, but I thought it was charming and I really loved the characters

Sad. Read a lot about Han Kang themes of trying to reconcile violence of humanity in her work. About someone withdrawing from the violence of life.

Deeply sad. I saw it as a Kaufman film as I watched it, as I knew he's been attached to write it. There's a creeping sense of dread attached to watching the awful thing happen and there only being brief pockets of resistance - fascism.

Really enjoyed this section of r.e.g's diaries - his anecdotes are amusing and it's fascinating to read about the directors, actors etc he's worked with - he captures them really well. His charm comes off the page too.

Fundamentally I guess about a woman who refuses to compromise and an example of how women compromise, especially in relation to Ghanaian culture. I enjoyed the details of day-to-day life - easy to read and engaging protagonist. I didn’t really understand why she cared so much, if I was to have a criticism of the book.

Feels like a lot of asian/asian american fiction recently. I liked this as a realistic representation of life alone in a big city, but felt it was a bit slight.
